3 Ways To Finish The Year Strong

Pop quiz: Did you set annual goals at the beginning of the year?

Of course, you did, because we talked about the importance of it!

Well, we’re heading into the final days of the year. Unless you’re a truly unique overachiever, you likely have goals left to accomplish this year. So like a good coach, it’s time to take ourselves to the locker room and evaluate where we’re at and see if we need to adjust our gameplan to ensure we finish the year successfully.

 1. Remove Unmanageable Resolutions

Did you bite off a little more than you can chew at the beginning of the year? It might seem like a quitter’s mentality, but pruning your resolutions could be the way to get you to feel accomplished at the end of the year. In all likelihood, there are certain goals you have set that you feel are more important than the others. Well, let’s at least make sure to hit the most important ones. If it is starting to look like you’re short on time and long on unfinished goals, prune away the goals that are less important to you.

2. Gauge Progress on other Goals

Let’s say you’ve got 5 goals on your list that are left unchecked. It’s easy to look at this list and feel like you have 5 full goals left to complete, which would look like a daunting task. But if your goals are measurable (which they should be), you can find a way to gauge the progress you’ve made on those goals. From there, you can get a sense of which goals you’re closest to knocking out and which ones you’re farthest away from. Whether that means you’ll want to kick it into gear to make progress on the ones your furthest from or hurry up and knock out the ones you’re closest to is up to you. But it is always helpful to be able to track your progress.

3. Give Yourself Credit for Goals You’ve Completed

One of the most overlooked keys to accomplishing goals is to celebrate! You need to train yourself to know that with accomplishments comes a feeling of reward. When you get something done, treat yourself! It may even be worth it to come up with a checklist of rewards for yourself to go with any list of goals that you create. Don’t let yourself forget the good feeling of small victories.
